All the man can think about is revenge. Suddenly, he develops feelings for the daughter of his enemy. The girl has "Pinocchio syndrome," so every time she lies, she also hiccups. More often than not, this forces her to tell the truth. I found this K-drama so gripping and intelligently written that I simply didn't want it to end. Initially, I decided to watch it simply because of its main theme, which is relevant today in the era of fake news and misleading headlines.
In retrospect, however, my favorite things about it were the brutal development of the characters, their thought-provoking decisions, and their utterly unexpected actions.
If you are looking for an intense and fast-paced mature drama with excellent acting, dialog, and comedic flourishes, you should give this melodrama a go. Woman of Dignity centers on the life of a rich family. The comfortable life of the elegant Woo Ah-Jin, who lives a luxurious life due to her wealthy father-in-law, slowly comes apart with the arrival of the new caretaker for the rich man.
Park Bok-Ja, the new caretaker, is a poor woman. She enters the household with a singular goal—to become part of the family and lift herself out of the lower class once and for all. When I discovered there were two female leads in this series, I was immediately hooked. But there are also many supporting characters that each have their own interesting story.
I was glad that the series did not focus entirely on male-female romance as so many K-dramas tend to do and instead explored non-romantic interpersonal relationships and relatable societal woes. If you are still looking for a fun drama that mixes romantic comedy with some darker crime elements and features adorable leads with unreal levels of cuteness , then Strong Woman Do Bong Soon should be your next watch.
This show is fronted by a strong heroine and an appreciative, dreamy hero. On the outside, Do Bong Soon seems to be small and fragile, but she is actually a woman with superior strength handed down to her from female members of her family. She wants to keep this secret, as she has fears of being considered a weirdo. The man becomes attracted to and intrigued by her.
Soon, he faces a threat to his life, so he decides to hire the girl as his bodyguard. Kim Tan is the rich heir to the Empire Group. He comes to the U. While living in the States, he meets Go Eun Sang, who came to the country with her sister with the hope of a better life.
Tan meets Sang at the lowest moment of her life. His heart breaks for her and he decides to take her to his home in Korea. Things get complicated when we discover that Eun Sang's mother is a housekeeper in Tan's home. And there are even more surprises ahead. The storyline is nothing groundbreaking, but it's a fascinating new take on something everyone has watched a million times.
I like that it's modern, youthful, quirky, funny, and equal parts romantic and sad. It's a great show for those days when you want to feel warm and comfortable. If you are a fan of fantasy melodramas, you should definitely check this one out.
This drama took the world—not just Korea—by storm when it aired. He is trapped on Earth and is working as a university professor.
All he can think of is how to get back home, but he changes his mind when he meets a popular actress. This K-drama has everything I could possibly want. It has believable and charismatic leads, an evil villain, romance, comedy, melodrama, and time-travel all blended together in 21 must-see episodes.
I definitely recommend My Love from the Star to fans of sci-fi, teleportation, and time stopping. Each of these concepts is presented here in a breathtaking way.
The great chemistry between the two leads and the series' unique sense of humor kept me watching until the end. Descendants of the Sun was a mega-hit when it first aired on TV. Since the series was produced before its airing, the storyline couldn't be extended simply due to viewer ratings. Apparently, that's the reason why it ended after 16 episodes despite its massive popularity. This love story revolves around a woman who is leading a medical team that saves the lives of a special forces unit that carries out secret missions.
The action is set in Uruk, a fictitious country in a state of war. The protagonist and the captain of the unit both deal with life-and-death situations every day. But will they seek love and risk heartbreak in the midst of all this? The series is rounded out by an awesome cast, nice music, a wonderful storyline, and great chemistry between the leads.
It's safe to say that any K-drama fan is unlikely to come out disappointed. I enjoyed the romance in the series, and it also gave me a rare look at the sacrifices that our real-life doctors and servicepeople make. In my opinion, Descendants of the Sun is worthy of all the buzz and high ratings it received. Romantic comedy is easily the most popular genre of K-drama.
There are many common tropes that are frequently seen in these types of series, such as a handsome male lead searching for his true love, an awkward-but-comedic comedic love triangle, or star-crossed lovers overcoming obstacles together.
Here are some recommendations for the best romantic comedy K-dramas out there. And you can never go wrong with what Ms Elizabeth recommends in the k Drama world if you find her say hi from me! What about Mr Sunshine HOw in the world does that mow not make this list..
So many good Asian dramas. I have watched many of them multiple times. The only thing that I don't like are the ones with so many episodes that spend ten or fifteen of them with the couples apart. It's better when they are together, even if they are fighting. There are plenty of great K-dramas and once we start watching we can't stop ourselves and you did a great job making a collection with the best dramas. They are actually great dramas.
And there are many more good ones. Tunnel, while I am not sure of its age, is fabulous, as is some of the others now on Netflix. The only one that deserves to be in a top 15 list from here, is Prison Playbook, tbh. Kdramas have move on, they're not all the same soap opera anymore.
