I mounted the magnetic base in from of my windshield since I have a soft top Jeep. I ran the lead between the hood and windshield and found an opening in the firewall to pass the lead through. The whole process only took about 5 minutes. The lead is very thin and the connector is small so it will fit through just about any opening.
